So i’ve finished reading Peter Pan, it brought a little tear to my eye. It’s so cute and romantic in a sad way.

It makes you never want to grow up.

My favourite parts of the book;

‘it is a nightly custom of every good mother after her children are asleep to rummage in their minds and put things straight for next morning, repacking into their proper places the many articles that have wandered during the day. If you could keep awake (but of course you can’t) you would see your own mother doing this…..when you wake in the morning, the naughtiness and evil passions with which you went to bed have been folded up small and placed at the bottom of your mind, and on the top, beautifully aired, are spread out your prettier thoughts, ready for you to put on.’

“These are my last words, dear boys, I feel I have a message to you from your real mothers: ’we hope our sons will die like English gentleman.’”

“Can anything harm us, mother, after the night-lights are lit?” ”Nothing precious, they are the eyes a mother leaves behind to guard her children.”

‘There could not have been a lovelier sight; but there was none to see it except a little boy who was staring in at the window. He had ecstasies innumerable that other children can never know; but he was looking through the window at the one joy from which he must be forever barred.’

“Wendy, one girl is more use than twenty boys.”
